What are different types of telehealth?

There are many ways you can use telehealth to connect to your health care provider.

What are the types of telehealth?

There are different ways to use telehealth:

  • Talk to your health care provider on the phone or using video.
  • Send and get messages from your health care provider.
  • Use tools to collect your health data. You can use technology to track and share health data with your provider. This is often called remote patient monitoring.

What is remote patient monitoring?

Using technology, you can check your health from home. This is called “remote patient monitoring” or “RPM” for short. It is a helpful way to manage your health conditions. Some common health issues that can be tracked by RPM include:

  • High blood pressure
  • Blood sugar levels for diabetes
  • Weight
  • Heart problems
  • Breathing problems
  • Issues with sleep
  • Asthma

If your health care provider recommends a tool, they can teach you how to use it. Some RPM tools include:

Scale to check your weight

Tools that check your heart rate

Technology that measures your blood sugar

Devices that check blood pressure

Tools that check for sleep problems

Devices to track breathing
